'BJP Brought A Sick State At Par With Developed States': Amit Shah Unveils Shivraj Govt's 'Report Card' In MP

Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party In poll-bound Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday took a swipe at previous Congress governments in Madhya Pradesh and said that in 53 years governance of Congress, MP was known as a 'Bimaru' state". Shah released the Madhya Pradesh government's “report card” in Bhopal on Sunday and addressed the BJP’s working committee meeting in Gwalior ahead of the state assembly polls due this year-end. Gwalior is the home turf of Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

While presenting the 20-year "report card" of the BJP government in the state, Shah said that the saffron party has brought a sick state at par with the developed states of the country with a holistic approach. "In 20 years, the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh has brought a sick state at par with the developed states of the country with a holistic approach in 20 years and has also decided with what approach to take the state forward under the leadership of Modi ji in the nectar of independence," the Union Minister said.

"Ashish Bose, an economic analyst, presented a paper to Rajiv Gandhi in which he used the term BIMARU and said that the growth rate of the entire country is being brought down by these four BIMARU states of Bihar, United Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh," Shah said.

During his address, Shah launched a scathing attack at former MP CM Kamal Nath and said that he should stop talking "nonsense" and answer why he looted the state. "He (Kamal Nath) should stop talking nonsense and answer why he looted Madhya Pradesh," Shah said.

Amit Shah exuded confidence on the saffron party and said that in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 it will emerge victorious on all 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh. "In 2014 polls, the BJP won 27 out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh. In 2019 (Lok Sabha) polls, we won 28 seats. I am confident that we will win all 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh in 2024," Shah said.

According to the report, preparations were for BJP MLAs, MPs, district presidents, and general secretaries to attend the Gwalior meeting. Approximately 1,500 party officials were in attendance. The meeting was held to likely finalise the party's strategy for the upcoming elections.

This meeting is significant because it is the final gathering of the state's working committee before Madhya Pradesh goes to the polls, which are scheduled for the end of the year.

In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress secured victory in 26 out of 34 seats in the Gwalior and Chambal region. During that time, Jyotiraditya Scindia was a part of the Congress. However, after Scindia's defection to the BJP, along with his loyal supporters, the Congress could only manage to win 7 out of 19 seats in the Gwalior and Chambal bypolls held in November 2020.
