The meeting of the Shinde Sena MPs with Amit Shah ended, while Eknath Shinde was meanwhile addressing a presser in Thane. During the press conference, he said that he supports the decision of the BJP high command and that the Shiv sainikis will support whoever is chosen by the Mahayuti.
This comes amid reports that the leaders of all the three parties of the Mahayuti alliance will reportedly be visiting New Delhi to meet the BJP top brass as the decision regarding the next Chief Minister is yet to be announced. The deadlock has delayed the swearing-in of the new government in the state.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leadership has summoned Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, and Devendra Fadnavis to the national capital to discuss about the ongoing issue, which started off on Saturday, November 23, after the results for the Maharashtra Assembly elections were announced.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance had secured a massive victory, winning 230 seats in the 288-member Assembly, with the BJP alone securing 132 seats. Shiv Sena and NCP secured 57 and 41 seats respectively.
In the opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, Congress bagged 16 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) 20, and NCP (SP) won 10 seats.
During the press conference in Thane, Eknath Shinde said that he has always worked as a worker and never considered himself a Chief Minister. "CM means Common Man, I worked by considering this," he said.
Earlier today, Deputy CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had said that the decision on the new CM of Maharashtra will be taken soon and that all the senior members of the three parties are taking a decision on the deadlock together.
