2019 LS polls: Grenade hurled at polling station in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama
In Jammu and Kashmir, polling is being held in Pulwama and Shopian districts of Anantnag and Ladakh constituencies.
Pulwama: In an untoward incident, terrorists hurled a grenade at a polling station in Rohmoo village in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. No injuries were reported from the incident.
This was the first militant attack on a polling station in this Lok Sabha election in Jammu and Kashmir.
In Jammu and Kashmir, polling is being held in Pulwama and Shopian districts of Anantnag and Ladakh constituencies. Polling is underway for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in 51 constituencies spread over seven states, amidst tight security.
Polling is being held in Pulwama and Shopian districts of Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency which also includes Anantnag and Kulgam districts as well. The Lok Sabha polls to this constituency are being held in three phases due to security reasons. Anantnag district went to polls on 23 April, while voting in Kulgam district took place on 29 April.
There are 18 candidates in the fray for Anantnag constituency including PDP president and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti.
Voting, which began at 7 on Monday morning, will conclude at 6 in the evening. Early voters to cast their votes include Union Ministers Rajnath Singh in Lucknow and Rajyavardhan Rathore in Jaipur (Rural) constituencies.
Polling is underway at 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 12 in Rajasthan, 7 each in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, 5 in Bihar and 4 in Jharkhand.
