Background

Jaipur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ramcharan Bohara from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 539345 votes. The polling / voting in Jaipur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Ram charan Bohra and Congress Party#s Smt. Jyoti khandelwal

Jaipur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 25 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 54.9 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 30.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 16 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jaipur, 14 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Ramcharan Bohara of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Dr. Mahesh Joshi by a margin of 539345 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Girdhari Lal Bhargava attained 480730 votes and INC's Pratap Singh Khachariawas bagged 373544 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Girdhari Lal Bhargava attained 456720 votes and INC's Pt. Raghu Sharma bagged 314930 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Girdhari Lal Bhargava attained 445608 votes and INC's M.Sayeed Khan (Goodage) bagged 306637 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Girdhari Lal Bhargava attained 344994 votes and INC's Pt. Dinesh Chandra Swami bagged 229740 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Girdhari Lal Bhargava attained 325668 votes and INC's Nawal Kishore Sharma S/O Pt. Mool Chand Sharma bagged 199741 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 84487 votes BJP candidate Girdhari Lal Bhargava had got 384125 while INC got Bhawani Singh votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 83857 votes INC candidate Nawal Kishore Sharma had got 280436 while BJP got Satish Chandra Agrawal votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between JNP and Indian National Congress here JNP candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 4684 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Satish Chander attained 249367 votes and INC's Janardan Singh bagged 59885 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 50644 votes SWA candidate Gyatri Devi had got 180059 while INC got P. K. Choudhary votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 94251 votes SWA candidate G. Devi had got 196892 while INC got R. Kasliwal votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha poll, SWA candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, SWA candidate Gayatri Devi W/O Sawai Mansingh attained 192909 votes and INC's Sharda Devi bagged 35217 votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Independent and INC here Independent candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 4504 votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate defeated HMS candidate with a difference of 30859 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ram Karan Joshi attained 66197 votes and HMS candidate Sohan Mal bagged 35338 votes
