Schools To Remain Closed In Northeast Delhi Till March 7

The annual exams have also been postponed since the situation is not conducive for conducting examinations in violence-affected areas

New Delhi: All government, government-aided and private recognised schools will remain closed in northeast Delhi till March 7 in view of the violence. The annual exams have also been postponed since the situation is not conducive for conducting examinations in violence-affected areas. "All government, government-aided and private recognised schools of North East district will remain closed for students till 7th March 2020. New dates of annual exam for schools in the district will be announced shortly," Directorate of Education, Delhi Government told ANI. The exams are being put off for the last few days in the national capital due to violence in some areas. The CBSE had postponed the board exams for Class 10 and 12 scheduled for February 28 (Friday) and February 29 (Saturday) in riot-hit north Delhi. The education board, however, stated that examination in the rest of Delhi shall be conducted as scheduled. There are a total of 86 centres in northeast Delhi. The Class 10 and Class 12 Board examination scheduled to take place on February 27 was also postponed by CBSE due to similar reason. "To reduce the stress on students, the board will conduct fresh exams for these students. The next date of exam for affected students will be notified shortly," CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi had told PTI. The communal violence over the amended citizenship law in northeast Delhi has claimed atleast 42 lives so far and left over 200 people injured.
