NIT Rourkela Placement 2023: 1,534 Receives Job Offers, 24 Students Secure Above Rs 50 Lakh Package

NIT Rourkela has received the highest number of 1,534 job offers from 330 companies.

The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) has received the highest number of 1,534 job offers from 330 companies during the campus placements for the academic year 2022-23. More than 95% of the students from the flagship BTech programmes were successfully placed.

The placement package at NIT Rourkela saw remarkable figures, with 24 students being offered a salary package of more than Rs 50 lakh per annum (LPA). Among them, eight students received the highest offer of Rs. 52.89 LPA. The average cost-to-company (CTC) also witnessed a significant increase from Rs 11.15 LPA in the previous year to Rs 12.95 LPA in 2022-2023, representing a growth of over 16%. The average CTC for BTech students stood at Rs. 14.22 LPA.

Certain departments at NIT Rourkela achieved a 100% placement rate for registered students. These include BTech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, as well as Dual Degree in Mining Engineering and Ceramic Engineering. Additionally, more than 350 internship offers were made to students, with the highest stipend being Rs. 1.5 lakh per month.

Software and IT Services emerged as the top recruiters, accounting for 31.1% of total recruitments. Prominent companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, AWS, Hotstar, and SAP Labs were among the top recruiters at the institute.

In terms of average CTC for specific departments, the computer science department recorded an impressive figure of Rs 21.87 LPA, followed by electronics and instrumentation engineering at Rs 18.12 LPA, and electronics and communication at Rs. 17.97 LPA. The electrical department had an average CTC of Rs 14.55 LPA.

The Integrated MSc course also saw significant improvement, with more than 80% of registered students receiving job offers, marking a substantial 51% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, postgraduate programs witnessed a high placement rate, with 96.22% of students placed in the Department of Electronics and Communication, followed by 90% in the Department of Industrial Design.
