NEET Row: JNU Students Demand Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation, NTA Abolition At Delhi Protest

NEET Row: JNU students have decided to continue their protest until their demands are met.

In Delhi, the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University protested over irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the UGC-NET examinations. Led by JNUSU President Dhananjay, protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar to voice their grievances, calling for the abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

"The protests are over the irregularities, and paper leaks in NEET, UGC-NET. We have been saying that the accused is NTA. NTA needs to be dissolved. Their only job is to conduct examinations, and they are failing at it too," said JNUSU President Dhananjay, highlighting the frustrations among students over recent examination controversies.

"Education comes under the concurrent list, but the obsession to centralise everything - one language, one country, one exam - is responsible for all the irregularities. I request everyone to join the indefinite sit-in at Jantar Mantar," Dhananjay said.

The protest, organised under the banner of 'India Against NTA' by the All India Students' Association (AISA), drew a significant crowd at Jantar Mantar. Speakers at the event included prominent educators like Vijender Chauhan, Jitendra Meena, Nandita Narain, and Laxman Yadav, who echoed the students' demands for accountability and systemic reforms.

The students have decided to continue their protest until their demands are met, particularly focusing on the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The bureau has also registered FIRs against the complaints. The agency is further expected to take over one more case from Maharashtra’s Latur. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry's panel on exam reforms will engage with parents and students to understand their concerns and challenges regarding the examination process. This initiative comes amid ongoing controversies over alleged irregularities in competitive exams like NEET and NET. The seven-member panel, headed by former ISRO chief R. Radhakrishnan, held its first meeting on Monday evening.
