NEET Exams 2020: West Bengal Lifts Lockdown On September 12 For Ease Of NEET Students

West Bengal Lockdown Date Change: The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that the lockdown on September 12th will be lifted in preparation for NEET exams that are going to be held the next day.

New Delhi: The West Bengal government is going to lift its lockdown for the upcoming National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams which is going to be held on September 13. The state government had ordered a complete lockdown for two days every week and as per announcements, there would be a complete state-wide lockdown on September 7, 11, and 12. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the lockdown on the 12th will be lifted so that students can attend the exam on the 13th without any stress. The CM said that the decision was taken after getting requests from students.

As per the business daily Mint, this service will be specially provided for medical entrance examinees and their guardians. However, examinees will have to show NEET admit cards at the gates of Metro stations. The Bengal CM was one of the six ministers who had submitted the review petitions at the Supreme Court seeking review of the court's August 17 order to conduct NEET-UG and JEE (Mains) examinations. She had also raised serious concerns about the examinations and had urged the centre to postpone the exams until the situation is conducive. Even though the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JEE (Main) exams, efforts were still made on postponing the NEET exams. On Wednesday, Supreme Court made it clear that there will be no further delay in exams after it refused to hear a fresh batch of pleas seeking the postponement of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams.
