NCPCR Orders Probe Into Alleged Suspension Of Nursery Student For Bringing Non-Veg Food In UP School

The NCPCR has ordered a probe into allegations that a nursery student was suspended for bringing non-vegetarian food to a private school in Amroha.

Amroha: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has instructed the district magistrate to conduct an inquiry into allegations that a private school suspended a nursery student for bringing non-vegetarian food in his tiffin box. The incident involves Hilton Convent School, where the principal, Avnish Kumar Sharma, is accused of targeting the child, who belongs to a Muslim family.

The controversy first surfaced on September 6 when a video of a confrontation between the boy’s mother and the principal circulated on social media. In the video, Principal Sharma is seen accusing the student of making religious comments and bringing non-veg food to school daily. The student’s mother denied these claims and expressed fear that her children, three of whom are enrolled in the school, are now too afraid to attend classes.

While a preliminary probe dismissed allegations that the student had been held hostage or expelled, the NCPCR has ordered District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Tyagi to conduct a fresh investigation, with a report due within 10 days. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC), led by Chairman Atulesh Kumar Bhardwaj, also initiated its own investigation under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The mother, distressed by the incident, hinted at seeking legal recourse. "This situation has left my children terrified of going back to school. I will take this to court to ensure justice for them," she told media outlets. Despite rumors, she denied approaching the education department for a transfer to a different school.
