Ghaziabad: School Timings For Classes 1 To 8 Revised Amid Severe Cold And Dense Fog

As per the notice from the Basic District Education Officer’s office, Classes from 1 to 8 in all schools in the Ghaziabad district will run from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm.

Following the dripping mercury levels and intensifying fog in the national capital region, the Ghaziabad district administration has revised the operational timings for all schools in the district. As per the revised timings, classes 1 to 8 in all schools in Ghaziabad will now function from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm. The office of the Basic District Education Officer released an official notice today announcing the revised school timings in the district.

Notably, in the past few days, the northern parts of the country including Delhi-NCR and parts of Uttar Pradesh have seen a sharp drop in temperatures leading to severe cold and intensifying fog. While the daily lives of people have been battling with the cold winds, administration and authorities in various districts have been light on their feet to protect school going children from the cold wave.

In a move similar to that of the Ghaziabad district administration, schools in Mathura have also been asked to run classes 1 to 8 from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm. In the light of increasing cold across northern parts of the country, the Uttar Pradesh government earlier extended the winter vacation in UP schools, starting from December 31, 2023, to January 14, 2024. The swift move from various district administrations and state authorities to safeguard school children from prevailing weather conditions comes in the aftermath of the dense fog forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department in the upcoming week.

However, schools in Delhi will be observing a shortened winter vacation this season from January 1 to 6, 2024. The restricted winter vacation for Delhi schools is aimed at covering up for the 15-day off granted for Delhi schools in November this year in the light of the intense pollution across Delhi-NCR.
