Delhi's EWS/DG Category Admission Lottery For 2025-26 Session Today: Key Details
Delhi's Education Department will conduct a lottery on March 5 for Economically Weaker Section and Disadvantaged Group admissions for 2025-26. Results will be available online.

The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) is set to conduct the much-awaited lottery for admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) category for the 2025-26 academic session. The first draw of lots will take place on Wednesday, March 5, marking a crucial step in the admission process for thousands of students.
Where And When Will The Draw Take Place?
According to the official notice issued by the DoE, the computerized draw of lots is scheduled for 2:30 PM on Wednesday. The event will be held at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Education at Old Secretariat in Delhi.
How to Check Admission Results
Once the draw is completed, parents and guardians can check the results on the official DoE website at https://edudel.nic.in.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood was quoted by Hindustan Times on Tuesday as saying that the entire process will be conducted with complete transparency. To ensure fairness, the draw will take place in the presence of parents and media representatives, as reported by PTI.
Additionally, to improve visibility for those attending in person, multiple large television screens will be installed at the venue, allowing parents to closely follow the proceedings.
Number Of Applications Vs Available Seats
The demand for EWS/DG category admissions has been overwhelming this year, with 2.5 lakh applications received, reported Hindustan Times. However, just 38,000 seats are available for selection through the lottery, making the selection process highly competitive.
Increased Income Eligibility For EWS Category
Sood also said that the income eligibility limit for the EWS category has been raised to ₹5 lakh, a move that could allow more families to qualify for these reserved seats.
Previously, EWS-category students faced difficulties in securing their seats despite being selected. Addressing this issue, Sood said that once a student's documents are verified, they will receive an admission slip, and no school will be allowed to deny admission to the selected candidate.
After the draw is completed, the selected candidates must complete the formalities within the deadline to confirm their spot.
