CUET-UG 2024: Exams To Be Held From May 15 To 31, Date Sheet After March 26, Says UGC Chief

The UGC Chief has said that the CUET-UG 2024 date sheet will be released after assessing the total number of registered candidates, their geographical distribution, and the Lok Sabha Poll Dates 2024.

The UGC (University Grants Commission) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has said that the CUET-UG 2024 Exams will be held as per the previously proposed schedule of May 15 to May 31, 2024. However, since the ECI (Election Commision of India) released the Lok Sabha Election Dates 2024 yesterday, two dates within the previously mentioned schedule of the CUET-UG Exams 2024 are overlapping with the Lok Sabha Polls 2024. 

Taking the said CUET-UG 2024 dates overlapping with the election dates into consideration, the UGC Chief said that the final date sheet of the CUET-UG 2024 shall be released once the registration cum application process for the exam is conducted on March 26. The UGC Chairman further said that teh date sheet shall be released accordingly in consideration to the number of registered candidates, and their geographical distribution.

“NTA will conduct CUET-UG, as announced earlier, between May 15 and May 31, 2024. In this period, two dates overlap with the election dates on 20 and 25 May. After the last date for filling out applications on March 26, 2024, we will know the number of students registered for CUET-UG and their geographical distribution. Based on this data and the election dates, NTA will announce the date sheet for CUET-UG between 15 and 31 May,” M Jagadesh Kumar in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

Notably, the Election Commision of India, notified the Lok Sabha Poll Dates 2024. As per the official schedule, the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections will be held in seven phases across the country, starting from April 19, and concluding on June 1, 2024. In its seven phases, the nationwide polls will be held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1, 2024. The counting of votes shall be done on June 4, 2024.
