10,500 Students To Enrol In Jharkhand Government’s 80 Schools Of Excellence

As part of its educational reforms, the Jharkhand government aims to establish 325 block-level schools and 4,091 gram panchayat-level model schools across the state in the second phase.

Out of over 41,000 students, a total of 10,590 students have been declared successful for admissions into 11,936 seats on offer in the Jharkhand government-run schools of excellence by far. "In all, 10,590 students were declared successful against 11,936 available seats for admissions to Schools of Excellence (SoEs). Of them, 7,499 have got admissions to classes one, six and nine," news agency PTI quoted a statement from the CM's Secretariat as saying on Monday. 

The statement further underlined Jharkhand government’s vision to provide quality education to 15 lakh students studying in state government schools. As part of the educational reforms introduced in the state, the state government will be setting up a total of 325 block-level schools and 4,091 gram panchayat-level model schools across the state in the second phase, the statement added further.

Earlier, the state government had announced that besides receiving quality education, students who will be joining these 80 schools of excellence will be undergoing vocational training under 11 different trades. The different domains in which students will be trained in these schools would include: agriculture, IT, ITES, apparel and make-up and home furnishing, media and entertainment, automotive, tourism and hospitality, beauty and wellness, multi-skilling, electronics and hardware, retail and healthcare.

Earlier this year, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on May 2, inaugurated 80 state government-run schools of excellence. Through the schools of excellence initiative, the Jharkhand government aims to provide quality English-medium education to children on par with private schools. Moreover, the principals of the 80 schools of excellence have participated in online training provided by the National Center for School Leadership, in two phases.

A key initiative of the present Jharkhand government, the schools of excellence are to come up with all the modern facilities, besides specially trained principals and teachers. Besides enriching education, the schools' mission of imparting vocational training to students is aimed at pushing upon education and employability simultaneously, to help shape students for the modern industry.
