Dr Ashok Kumar Nagawat has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). Dr Nagawat took charge on July 7, 2023 as the second DSEU VC. Dr Nagawat succeeds Dr Neharika Vohra, the first DSEU VC. Before joining the DSEU, Dr Nagawat has also served as the Director of Skill Education at the ILD Skills University Rajasthan for four years. 

A theoretical physicist, Dr Ashok Kumar Nagawat has also served as a faculty member at the Department of Physics, University of Rajasthan. He has also been involved in various university functions and also headed five academic units with an administrative experience of over 19 years. 

In his career, Dr Nagawat has also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Science, a Member of Syndicate, as well as the Chief Coordinator of UIC-B. At the University of Rajasthan, he played an active role in establishing the Infonet Centre, University Innovation Cluster in Biotechnology, and Design Innovation Center. He also presented and defended a concept paper on the Centre for Converging Technologies, which was followed by the creation of the centre. 

“Dr. Nagawat’s vision for DSEU is to make it a nationally competitive university known for its accomplishments and contributions to society, by creating a community of learners that celebrates diversity, promotes excellence, and makes a transformative impact on society and in the technology driven world,” said a press release issued by the university. 

Notably, the Delhi government established the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University in 2020, following the Delhi Skill and Entreneurship University Bill tabled in the Delhi assembly in 2019. The university is aimed at upskilling youth and students in collaboration and support from various industries and make them job-ready for the modern industry. The university offers seeveral courses for students at present, at various levels: Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Ph.D., etc.
