Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Travels In Delhi Metro, Interacts With Fellow Commuters — WATCH

In a video of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman travelling on the Delhi Metro to Laxmi Nagar, some netizens appreciated that despite being a minister, she is travelling by public transport.

A video of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman travelling on the Delhi Metro to Laxmi Nagar, and engaging with passengers along the way has quickly gained attention on social media. During her journey, she conversed with a woman and her children. One of the boys expressed his desire to meet her, and in response, she asked him his name and what grade he was in. She also spoke with the woman's other child.

The video garnered several reactions as some netizens appreciated that despite being a Union minister, she is travelling by public transport, while another called it "a drama" amid the Lok sabha election.

This comes as Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Delhi's Laxmi Nagar, the city's CA coaching hub, on Friday. During her visit, she interacted with CA, CS, CMA, and CUET aspirants.

Regarding the same, she told news agency ANI,  "I liked to discuss the economic issues of India with CA aspiring students and recently qualified CAs and their enthusiasm and curiosity about developed India is amazing. It seems that everyone is eager to fill their minds with great aspirations for India and I am giving them blessings for their future."

Sitharaman During CII Annual Business Summit

Earlier in the day, Union FM Nirmala Sitharaman stressed that India needs to strengthen its manufacturing sector, which will elevate its standing in the global value chain and help it achieve self-reliance. During her address at the CII Annual Business Summit on Friday

She went on to stress the significance of strong policy support in addition to increasing manufacturing sophistication.

"I also want to underline much against the advice given by some economists that India should no longer be looking at manufacturing or ramping up manufacturing. I like to highlight the fact that manufacturing must increase. India must also increase with the help of policies its (manufacturing) share in the global value chain," Sitharaman said.
