Heatwave Scorches Delhi, Temperature Rises To 46 Degrees In Some Parts

Najafgarh recorded the highest maximum temperature of 46.2 degree Celsius today while Narela and Pitampura recorded 45.3 degree Celsius and 45.8 degree Celsius respectively.

Delhi reeled under harsh summers with temperature rising above 46 degree Celsius in some parts for a second consecutive day on Monday coupled with heatwave conditions. As per the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the national capital is likely to settle around 43 degree celsius, reported news agency PTI. 

Najafgarh recorded the highest maximum temperature of 46.2 degree Celsius today while Narela and Pitampura recorded 45.3 degree Celsius and 45.8 degree Celsius respectively, as per the MeT office. Ayanagar recorded a temperature of 44.4 degree Celsius and Palam recorded 44.2 degree Celsius, the IMD said, as per ANI. 

The morning was hot and sunny and the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.3 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.

On Sunday, the weather department had issued a heatwave warning for today in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas. 

As per the India Meteorological Department, the highest maximum temperature of 46.3 degree Celsius was recorded in Najafgarh on Sunday as well while Narela and Pitampura recorded a temperature of 45°C, reported ANI. 

Ayanagar recorded 44 degree Celsius temperature and Palam recorded 43.8 degree Celsius. 

The observatory at Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 42.9 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a heatwave warning for 18 districts in Uttar Pradesh for Sunday and Monday, news agency IANS reported citing an official from the department. 

According to the IMD, the daytime temperature in these areas will exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Mathura, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and the surrounding areas will be affected by the heatwave.
