Greater Noida: Fire Breaks Out Due To Gas Leakage From Pipeline, No Casualty

The fire broke out due to leakage in the IGL (Indraprastha Gas Limited) pipeline which happened because of unauthorised excavation at the site, the Chief Fire Officer said.

New Delhi: A fire broke out following gas leakage from a pipeline in Greater Noida on Thursday, news agency PTI reported. According to the report, the gas leakage was allegedly due to an unauthorised excavation at an open site, PTI quoted officials as saying. As per Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey, the fire, that was reported at 3pm in the Beta 2 police station area has been doused, and there has been no casualty.

“After getting information, teams were immediately dispatched to the site and the blaze was brought under control. The fire broke out due to leakage in the IGL (Indraprastha Gas Limited) pipeline which happened because of unauthorised excavation at the site,” PTI quoted Choubey as saying.

Choubey further said that no person was injured in the incident. However, a motorcycle got charred. He said officials of IGL also reached the site and the leakage has been fixed.

Earlier last month, four people were injured after a fire broke out in a factory in Libaspur area Delhi's.

In another incident, fire broke out in a DCM building in Connaught Place on July 15, ANI reported. As per initial reports, firefighters were rushed to douse the flames on the 9th floor of the DCM building in Connaught Place. 10 fire engines are present on the spot, according to ANI.

Before that on July 13, a massive fire broke out at a shopping complex in Greater Noida near Gaur City 1. Visuals from the spot showed two persons jumping from the third floor of the Galaxy Plaza shopping complex in Greater Noida West to save their lives as smoke billowed from the building.

In another incident, massive fire broke out at a showroom in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, killing four people, including a woman. The fire broke out at a three-storey electronics showroom and a sports store located in the Sipri Bazar area, PTI reported.
