Full Emergency Declared At Delhi Airport After Dubai-Bound Flight Suffers Bird Hit

A full emergency has been declared at the Delhi airport after a Dubai-bound flight suffered a bird hit after take off.

A full emergency was declared at the Delhi airport after Dubai-bound FedEx aircraft suffered a bird hit soon after take-off, an airport official said.  On Saturday, at 10.46 am flight no. FX5279 was forced to make an emergency landing after being hit by a bird shortly after takeoff. At 1.44 pm, the plane landed safely and took off again. FedEx operates Dubai-bound aircraft. The flight was scheduled to arrive in Dubai at 3.29 pm.

While bird strikes are common, several passenger flights from Delhi Airport have been diverted in recent days due to inclement weather. Due to weather conditions, nearly 22 flights were diverted from Delhi Airport on Thursday.

"Dubai FedEx flight was involved in air turnback due to a suspected bird hit at 1000 ft today. Delhi airport (DIAL) declared an emergency. Aircraft landed back safely. After inspection, it has been released for flight," the DGCA stated later in the day.

Recently, an IndiGo flight from Surat to Delhi was recently rerouted to Ahmedabad after being hit by a bird during a climb in Surat.

The engine fan blades were found to be broken during the ground inspection, according to the DGCA.

Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight from Cochin to Delhi was diverted to Bhopal on February 25 due to a medical emergency on board.

When the tail of an Air India Express flight from Calicut to Dammam brushed against the ground during takeoff, the flight was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram. According to officials, the flight landed safely after a major emergency was declared at the Thiruvananthapuram airport.
