The national capital witnessed rainfall on Monday that provided relief to the citizens from the scorching heat which was observed on Sunday.

Delhiites woke up to a pleasant morning on Monday as rainfall reduced the rising temperature in the national capital. The city braved a temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday and the minimum temperature settled at 28.6 degrees Celsius which is a notch above the season's average, reported news agency PTI. The relative humidity oscillated between 54 per cent and 75 per cent. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its Sunday bulletin predicted mostly cloudy skies with light rain for June 19.

IMD has predicted today's maximum and minimum temperature to hover around 39 and 27 degrees Celsius.

News agency ANI shared visuals from Delhi's Kartavya Path.

In the video shared by ANI, people were seen commuting on motorbikes and cars as rainfall drenched them. Some young boys were also seen clicking selfies while standing on the sides of the road.

PTI shared visuals from Ghaziabad where heavy rainfall was observed.

On Friday, the national capital received a fresh spell of rain under the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy and a western disturbance active over the northwest Himalayan region. It ended at 8:30 am on Saturday and in those 24 hours, Delhi recorded 7 mm rainfall.
