Delhi Temperature: People Fight Cold With Bonfires, Take Refuge In Night Shelters As Mercury Hovers Below 10°C
The temperature in Delhi-NCR has been continuously dropping as winter gets colder day by day forcing people to resort to bonfires and the homeless to take refuge in Night shelters.
Chilling weather is forcing Delhites to shiver as temperature sees continuous drop and air quality remains ''Very Poor' with AQI at 341 in the national capital, according to SAFAR India data at 7 am. The temperature in the town, as of 5:30, was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius, according to IMD. The weatherman's data showed the minimum temperature stood at 5. degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average. People have now resorted to bonfires and are taking refuge at night shelters as Delhi becomes colder than several hill regions
According to the IMD forecast, the temperature in Delhi is likely to hover between 5 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius for the coming week. As temperature dips, air quality across the region also sees a fall with many areas recording air quality in 'Very Poor' category.

Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 383 while the number stood at 384 in Bawana. The Air Quality Index in IGI airport was 324, in JLN stadium 334, in North Campus 329 and in Narela, it was 339 as of 7 am data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
As per IMD data, the temperature in Narela was 6.1 degrees Celsius this morning while in RK Puram, it was 7.9 degrees Celsius. In Rohini, the temperature was 6.8 degrees Celsius whereas in New Delhi, it was 7.4 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, Delhi recorded its lowest minimum temperature of the season so far at 4.9 degrees Celsius, which was even below Shimla's minimum temperature at 6.8 degrees Celsius, officials said, quoted PTI.
IMD has predicted dense fog in areas across neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana for the next five days.
