Delhi Wakes Up To Pleasant Weather After Rain But Waterlogging Plays Spoilsport

A fresh spell of rain has brought relief to the people of Delhi and adjoining areas while waterlogging has brought worry to residents.

New Delhi: A fresh spell of rain has brought relief to the people of Delhi and adjoining areas with temperatures falling down and the weather getting pleasant across the city. The national capital has been receiving rain for the last four days and according to PTI, on Monday the city received the highest 24-hour rainfall for March in the past three years.

Delhi recorded recording 6.6 mm of precipitation in just three hours, the India Meteorological Department said, quoted PTI. However, waterlogging has come as a problem for the residents.

The city's primary weather station, the Safdarjung observatory, recorded 6.6 mm of rainfall. Gusty winds accompanied the rain reaching speeds up to 32 kilometres per hour and thunderstorms, the weather office said.

The observatory at Palam clocked 10.4 mm rainfall alongside strong winds reaching speeds of up to 46 kilometres per hour and thunderstorms.

According to PTI, at 4 pm, Delhi's 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the 'moderate' category at 154.

IMD on Monday issued an orange alert for the Delhi-NCR region due to an anticipated increase in rain. IMD predicted moderate to heavy rainfall with gusty winds and a possible hailstorm in the region. Several cities in India are expected to continue seeing cloudy skies and rainy weather, with the weather department predicting rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Northwest and East India.

Meteorologist H P Chandra while talking to ANI said, "The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in the areas adjoining Surajpur, Balrampur, Surguja, Jaspur, Pendra Road, Kabirdham, Mahasamund, Durg, Raipur, Balod, Dhamtari, Kanker, Narayanpur, Kondagaon. A yellow alert was issued in Korea, Bilaspur, Mungeli, Janjgir, Bemetara, Balodbazar, and Rajnandgaon areas".

The seven-day forecast by the regional meteorological centre stated that Delhi is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky, thunderstorms with light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds, and hail in isolated areas. It's probable that both the maximum and lowest temperatures will be in the range of 26 and 16 degrees, respectively.

Delhi and its nearby areas are expected to witness pleasant weather this week.
