Delhi MCD Election 2022: BJP Releases First List Of 232 Candidates

The BJP has announced its candidates from 232 out of 250 wards for the Delhi MCD election.

New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janta Party has released its first list of 232 candidates for the upcoming Delhi MCD Election. The list has been shared by the official twitter handle of BJP Delhi.

The Aam Admi Party on Friday released its first list of 134 candidates for MCD polls. The party fielded 65 women candidates in the first list.

Earlier, AAP on Friday announced a list of 10 guarantees forming the basis of its manifesto for the MCD polls. Delhi CM Kejriwal said that the AAP, if sworn in to power, will clear three landfill sites and will make Delhi clean and beautiful. He further promised to end corruption in the civic body.

The BJP, on the other hand, released its 'Vachan Patra' on Thursday in which it has promised houses to slum dwellers ahead of the crucial MCD elections.

The Delhi MCD election will be held on December 4 while the counting of votes will be done on December 7.

MCD is an essential part of municipal administration and affects people on a daily basis, hence the contest involves high stakes for both the AAP and the BJP. Nearly 80% of Delhi is administered by the municipal authority, which offers almost as many services as the city government.

It will be the AAP's second attempt at a civic election. The AAP was unable to defeat the BJP at MCD despite sweeping to historic victory in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.

The elections will be crucial for the BJP, which has controlled the MCD for three straight terms, to keep control of the local political scene after suffering two consecutive losses at the assembly elections.
