Delhi: Man Killed, Body Set On Fire By 3 Teenagers To Avenge Sexual Assault, Say Police
The accused admitted that they decided to kill a man named Azad as he allegedly used to sexually assault one of them.
New Delhi: A 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death and his body set on fire by three teenagers in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, news agency PTI reported. Police said the three of them, aged between 16 and 17 have been apprehended and one of them alleged that the deceased used to sexually assault him.
Police said on receiving information, their team reached the Nizamuddin Basti area and apprehended the three teenagers. They admitted that they decided to kill a man named Azad as he allegedly used to sexually assault one of the teenagers. They also said they had kept his body near the Khusro Park.
Based on their confession, police reached the park and discovered the body in a half-burnt state, PTI reported. Forensic team also collected samples from the area, police said.
The body has been sent for autopsy and a case has been registered against the three of them for murder and hiding of evidence, police said.
"We took custody of the body which was sent for autopsy at AIIMS. An FIR of murder and hiding evidences of crime was registered. The accused told police that they murdered the man on the night of December 21 and tried to burn his body by putting dry grass and cloth," PTI quoted a police official as saying.
Police further said that the accused have admitted that on being assaulted repeatedly, he, along with his two aides hatched a plot to murder the person, according to the news agency.
"We have recovered the weapon used in the murder, stones and a stick. The deceased was a too bad character of Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. Further investigation is being carried out," a police official told PTI.
Police further said that the name of the deceased was in their records in connection with cases of assault and robberies.
