Delhi Lt Governor House Rejects Claims That LG Saxena Did Not Approve Transfer Of Officials

"LG responded proactively to the AAP Government's various demands for appointments, made in the public domain," officials of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor House said.

New Delhi: Officials of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor House rejected claims that LG VK Saxena did not agree to or approve the proposals for transfer or posting of officials made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and said any assertion on this regard is “totally false and fabricated”, news agency ANI reported.

“There is news circulating in certain sections of the media that the LG did not agree to or approve the proposals for transfer or posting of officials, made by the Chief Minister. It is clarified that no such request for transfer or posting of any official was ever received from the Chief Minister or from his ministers. Any assertion made in this regard is totally false and fabricated,” ANI quoted the LG House officials as saying.

“As a matter of fact, LG responded proactively to the AAP Government's various demands for appointments, made in the public domain, including that of the Principal Secretary in PWD,” the officials added.

In a big win for the Delhi government amid a row with the Centre, the Supreme Court earlier in the day ruled that Delhi government had legislative and executive power over "services", including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), except law and order and land.

In a unanimous verdict, a five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) was bound by the decision of Delhi government over services apart from public order, police and land.

Haling the top court verdict as “historic”, Delhi chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said his hands were tied but the Aam Aadmi Party government still carried out good work in Delhi.

"Today's Supreme Court order is historic in many ways. It is a big victory for the people of Delhi against whom there has been injustice. The honourable Supreme Court has done justice to them," Kejriwal said addressing the media.
