Court Extends AAP MP Sanjay Singh's Judicial Custody In Delhi Excise Policy Case Till Nov 10

Delhi Excise Policy Case: AAP MP Sanjay Singh's judicial custody in the Delhi Excise Policy case has been extended to November 10.

Delhi Excise Policy Case: Delhi's Rouse Avenue court on Friday extended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh's judicial custody till November 10 in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise scam. Special Judge MK Nagpal allowed the Rajya Sabha MP to sign certain cheques for his family expenses as well as his work as a Member of Parliament. The court also instructed the jail authorities concerned to ensure proper treatment to Singh, including by his private doctor.

"Court sees no reason to refuse the private treatment to the accused.... Hence, the jail superintendent concerned is directed to ensure the appropriate treatment," the judge said, as per PTI.

The judge asked Singh's counsel to ensure that no supporter of the AAP MP and others gather at the medical centre during his visit.

Earlier, ahead of his appearance in the Rouse Avenue court, the AAP MP said, "The battle against those in power will continue."

Last week, the trial Court sentenced Sanjay Singh to judicial custody until October 27, 2023. On Friday, the Delhi High Court dismissed the plea moved by Sanjay Singh challenging his remand and arrest in the liquor 'scam' case, news agency ANI reported. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma denied his plea contesting his detention and remand in the case, finding "no ground" was shown to award him relief.

Singh, who was detained by the ED on October 4, filed a high court petition last week challenging his detention and remand in a money laundering case involving suspected errors in Delhi's excise policy for 2021-22.

Last week on Friday, AAP released a list of 37 Star Campaigners' for the upcoming Chhattisgarh assembly elections, and a list of 30 Star Campaigners' for the Mizoram assembly polls, news agency ANI reported. Delhi CM & AAP National convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, party leader Manish Sisodia and other leaders have been named as star campaigners.
