'Delhi Excise Case Fake, 800 CBI Officers Found Nothing': Kejriwal On Sisodia Not Being Named In Chargesheet

Taking to Twitter, CM Kejriwal said: "The whole case is fake. Nothing was found in the raid. 800 officers found nothing in the investigation for 4 months."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday referred to the excise policy scam case as "fake" and said that attempts had been made to implicate his deputy Manish Sisodia in it, despite the fact that the CBI's investigation had turned up no evidence against him.

Taking to Twitter, CM Kejriwal said: "Manish's name is not in the CBI chargesheet. The whole case is fake. Nothing was found in the raids. A total of 800 officers found nothing in the probe for four months. Manish offered hope of a good future to crores of poor children in the country through a revolution in education. I am sorry that a conspiracy was hatched to defame such a person by implicating him in a false case."

On Friday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its first chargesheet against seven suspects, including two businesspeople, in the excise policy fraud case.

Along with the two detained businessmen, the chargesheet also lists the head of a television news station, a liquor broker from Hyderabad, a distributor from Delhi, and two employees of the excise department, according to authorities.

The chargesheet, which was issued within 60 days of the federal agency taking over the inquiry, did not mention Sisodia, who was identified in the CBI FIR.

According to the officials, the accused have been put on trial for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and for accepting bribes in violation of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
