Delhi's Air Still 'Very Poor' In Several Areas Even As AQI Improves — Check Details

Delhi Air Quality: The average air quality index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 276, as per SAFAR. It improved from an AQI of 286 on Wednesday and 297 on Tuesday.

Delhi Air Quality: The overall air quality improved in the national capital but continued to remain in the "poor category" on Thursday morning, as per the data released by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research. The average air quality index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 276, as per SAFAR. It improved from an AQI of 286 on Wednesday and 297 on Tuesday, as reported by news agency PTI. 

Despite the improvement in the overall air quality, the air quality, however, in several areas of Delhi continued to remain in the 'Very Poor' category, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).  

As per CPCB data, AQI in Delhi's Anand Vihar was 346, Ashok Vihar 322, Dwarka-Sector 8, Delhi 302, ITO 312. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

As per the India Meteorological Department, the relative humidity at 8.30 am was 97 per cent. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 26 degrees Celsius.  

According to CPCB, the Bawana station recorded PM 2.5 at 424, in the ‘severe’ category while the PM 10 reached 388, in the ‘very poor’ category, while the CO reached 78, or ‘satisfactory’ levels.

On Wednesday The maximum temperature settled at 26.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.2 degrees Celsius, normal for the season, as per the weather office. The humidity levels oscillated between 64 per cent and 100 per cent.

The weather office has predicted a mainly clear sky for Thursday with moderate fog in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Thursday are likely to settle around 26 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively, as per the forecast.
