"No injury or casualties were reported since the building was empty," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by PTI.
The official added that the incident was reported around 8:45 am.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi, the building's owner, Balraj Arora, had it abandoned in May after cracks appeared. The municipal department was made aware of the situation.
The MCD inspected the site, he said.

Earlier in October, a building collapsed at Central Delhi's Lahori Gate owing to heavy rain, killing three people, including a four-year-old girl, according to news agency IANS.

In September, five people were trapped after a building collapsed in North Delhi's Azad Market region, IANS reported.

According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, 38363 people died as a result of various structural collapses in India between 2001 and 2015.
