'Felt Extreme Peace': Delhi CM Kejriwal, Punjab Counterpart Mann Visit Ayodhya Ram Temple

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann visited the Ayodhya Ram Temple along with their families on Monday.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, and his Punjab counterpart and party leader Bhagwant Mann visited the newly inaugurated Ayodhya Ram Temple on Monday. The families of both the politicians also accompanied them during their visit.

"Today, me and Bhagwant Mann (Punjab CM) along with our families visited Ayodhya's Ram Mandir for 'darshan'," Kejriwal said while speaking to reoprters, adding, "We felt extreme peace after getting Ram Lalla's darshan that cannot be described in words."

Earlier in January, Kejriwal had said that he would skip the consecration and the inauguration ceremony at the temple and that he would prefer to visit the temple later with his parents, wife, and children.

"I want to visit Ayodhya with my family. My parents are very keen to visit the Ram Temple, so we'll go someday after January 22," the Delhi CM had said.

The Pran Pratishtha or the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram's idol was held on January 22 in the newly built Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya. The rituals for the ceremony were performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, several prominent leaders from the Opposition parties including Congress, Trinamool Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist) among others had said that they would not attend the event as they alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party of politicising the event.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and Lok Sabha floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had truned down the invitation for the ceremony, saying religion is a personal matter.

"But the RSS/BJP have long made a political project of the temple in Ayodhya. The inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has been obviously brought forward for electoral gain," the party had said in a statement.

The four Shankaracharyas had also refused to attend the event saying the consecration ceremony could not be held before the completion of the construction of the temple.
