NRI Woman Files Rape Complaint Against Tibetan National In Himachal's Dharamshala

An NRI woman filed an FIR against a Tibetan national in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, alleging rape and criminal intimidation.

An NRI (Non-Resident Indian) has filed an FIR at the Women Police Station against a Tibetan national with charges of rape and criminal intimidation in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

The Superintendent of Kangra, Shalini Agnihotri said that the NRI woman was undergoing medical tests and that she would provide a judicial statement adding that those requirements would be completed on Friday.

Speaking to ANI, Agnihotri, said, "In the women's PS of Dharamshala, an FIR was registered with the charges of criminal intimidation and rape. The victim is an NRI...her medical test and judicial statement are required, we are completing those requirements today."

She further added, "We have started interrogating the accused...we are exploring all the angles...accused is a Tibetan national, victim is NRI...we have initiated the verification process of their documents.

The Superintendent added that the accused was being interrogated and that they were exploring all angles. According to ANI, Agnihotri also mentioned that the verification of the documents of both the victim and the accused is underway. The police are in contact with the Tibetan office to assist in the investigation.

“We are in touch with the Tibetan office also," Agnihotri was quoted by ANI.

British Woman Raped In Delhi

Last week, a British woman was allegedly raped by a man at a hotel in south Delhi's Mahipalpur. She had befriended the man on Instagram and had come to Delhi from the UK to meet him. The accused, Kailash, was arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the case.

According to the Delhi Police, the woman was also molested by another man named Wasim, who is said to be Kailash's friend. Police have arrested him as well on charges of molestation. 

The woman arrived in Delhi on Tuesday and checked in at a hotel in Mahipalpur. Later, three individuals reportedly had dinner together and consumed alcohol before heading to the woman’s hotel room. Later that night, she was allegedly raped by Kailash.

The victim approached the Vasant Kunj police station in south Delhi the next morning and registered a complaint. Following guidelines, the police informed the British High Commission about the incident and provided the necessary assistance to the UK national involved.
