Viral 'IIT Baba' From Kumbh On ABP: 'Parents Use Scriptures Selectively, Won't Tell Kids About Moksha'
Abhay Singh, now known as 'IIT Baba', responded to his parents' pleas to return home, contending that scriptures are selectively used for personal gain while ignoring the element of 'moksha'.

Viral 'IIT Baba' On ABP: Abhay Singh, a former IIT student who left his job in Canada to pursue a spiritual path, has been making headlines at the Kumbh Mela, where he is now popularly known as 'IIT Baba'. His parents, who reside in Haryana, have urged him to return home, but Abhay has a different perspective on the matter.
Speaking to ABP News, Abhay Singh said, "When parents want their way, they refer to scriptures, but when the time comes for them, they forget about scriptures."
When asked why he does not wish to return despite his parents' appeal, he remarked, "If I think only about my parents and not others' parents, then this becomes a spiritual issue." He further explained, "This means you are treating your parents specially while seeing others’ parents differently. True equality comes only when you can see God in every human being."

'Parents Use Selective Teachings For Their Benefit': Abhay Singh AKA 'IIT Baba'
On being asked about scriptures talking about serving one’s parents above all, Abhay countered, "People have selectively taken two or three things from scriptures for their own benefit. Parents with egos do this. A child is like a blank slate; they learn the stories they are told. Scriptures also speak about moksha, but when a child starts chanting God's name, parents forget the scriptures. When it comes to their own emotions, wanting to be treated as God, they forget the scriptures."
Citing historical and religious examples, he stated, "Lord Ram went into exile, and King Dasharatha passed away due to it. Buddha left his wife and child. Adi Shankaracharya left home at the age of ten. These are the very people who wrote the scriptures that are quoted today. Those parents who have forgotten dharma are the ones misleading others."
In the interview, he elaborated on how his pursuit of satisfaction drove him to move from money to passion, only to find that "passion is not the meaning of life."
"I found a glimmer of truth (in spirituality), when I saw that people are leading the same cycle of life till death. I gained clarity on how the world operates. I realised that this (spirituality) is the real truth and it reveals further realities," he remarked when asked about what drove him to a spiritual path.
"The main realisation is that there is no meaning to life, the burden of your story, what you think people think goes away...My love is for the truth which lies in Sanatan. I have explored several religious texts and practised meditation, I found that seers found truth in Sanatan," he remarked.
He also spoke about his perspective on Sanatan Dharma opining, "Sanatan is eternal and one truth, it includes a bouquet of faiths that pursue to find god."
