"All are being rescued. ARMY, NDRF, ITBP, and district administration personnel are there for the rescue work. Due to heavy snowfall, all the roads connecting the site have been blocked. We are trying to rescue all those who are still trapped as soon as possible. The 14 workers who were rescued today, all are safe, and they are being brought to Joshimath," Dhami said.
He is in constant touch with officials present at the site to ensure swift action to rescue the remaining eight workers. As many as fourteen Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers were rescued on Saturday morning, Indian Army said.
Around 55 workers engaged in road construction and snow clearance were trapped under huge blocks of snow after a massive avalanche hit the Chamoli district near Badrinath on Friday.
The avalanche struck the camps where the BRO were working in the border area of Mana village. However, due to persistent rainfall and snowfall, the rescue operations were affected as the roads were blocked and the choppers could not be deployed.
