Uttar Pradesh's 'Buy One, Get One Free' Liquor Offer Sparks Chaos as Crowds Flock to Stores

Liquor stores in Uttar Pradesh are offering a "buy one, get one free" scheme to clear stock by March 31, leading to massive crowds at liquor outlets. The offer has attracted liquor enthusiasts, prompting police deployment in some cities.

In several cities of Uttar Pradesh, a "buy one bottle, get one free" scheme has led to huge crowds at liquor stores. As soon as liquor lovers got to know about the offer, the lines at the stores became uncontrollable. Every type of liquor bottle comes with a free offer, and people have abandoned their work to rush to the stores for purchases.

In Muzaffarnagar, the police had to be deployed to control the crowd for the free liquor offer. Most liquor stores in the city have displayed offer boards. Similarly, in Hapur, the same offer is being provided, where a free bottle is given with the purchase of one. Upon hearing this, liquor enthusiasts gathered in large numbers outside the liquor stores. They were seen climbing over each other to buy liquor.

Reportedly, the liquor stores are offering a free bottle with the purchase of one to clear stock by March 31. In various locations in Hapur, liquor stores are using this scheme to sell off their stock. After receiving a free bottle with the purchase, a chaotic rush has ensued outside the stores.

Liquor stores must clear their stock by March 31, 2025.

This offer at liquor stores in Uttar Pradesh is due to the new excise policy. Liquor stores in the state must clear their stock by March 31, 2025, as the new excise policy for 2025-26 will be implemented, and new stores will be opened through an e-lottery system starting April 1. As a result, liquor vendors are offering the "buy one, get one free" deal. Following this offer, long queues have been observed outside liquor stores.
