UP Woman Implants Bullet To Frame Man In Rape, Abduction Case In Bareilly; 2 Held

What looked like a horrifying case of gang rape and attempted murder turned out to be a meticulously staged story, the plot of which left the police stunned due to length to which the alleged victim went to frame a man. 

The Bareilly police were left scratching their heads when a woman filed a complaint that her aunt was gangraped and shot, but soon the investigation revealed that it was not a true case and that the alleged victim Shamouli had planned it and planted evidence using her extensive imagination, a bullet, a coin, and a quack. 

How The Plot Unfolded

It all started on the night of March 29, when the Bareilly police received information about a woman being shot near Gandhi Udyan, according to Manush Parikh, the city police chief. The next day, her niece appeared at the police station to lodge a complaint, alleging that five men in a black car had kidnapped her aunt outside a medical store near a 300-bed hospital. She further said the woman was later gang-raped, shot. and dumped neat Gandhi Udyan, NDTV reported.

The complaint triggered an intense citywide manhunt. But inconsistencies emerged within 24 hours when the medical report surfaced. The report revealed that the bullet wound was not caused by a firearm discharge. Instead, the bullet had been surgically inserted, and the surgical scars were still visible.

To confirm their growing suspicion, the police reviewed surveillance footage from the roadside CCTVs, only to find out that the woman was travelling in an auto-rickshaw at the time of her alleged abduction, the report said.

Upon questioning, the woman allegedly admitted to fabricating the story. She confessed to have previously blackmailed a public representative and his son. The case reagrding this matter was in court and its judgement was expected soon. To avoid that, she had plotted the story against the man to stall the proceedings and implicate her adversary again.

Police said the woman took the help of a district hospital employee and an unlicensed practitioner from Sanjaynagar to insert the bullet. She then used a hot coin to singe the area to mimic the powder burn from a bullet.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, and investigators believe more individuals may be involved. Police are investigating the matter further.
