Massive Fire At Gas Warehouse Leads To Cylinder Explosions In UP's Bareilly, Loud Blasts Captured On Video

A large fire at a gas warehouse in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, triggered explosions that scattered cylinders up to a kilometer away.

A massive fire at the Mahalaxmi Indane Gas Warehouse in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Monday led to a series of gas cylinder explosions, with some cylinders reportedly flying up to one kilometre before detonating. The blaze, which broke out at around 1:30 pm in the Raju Parsapur area under Bithri Chainpur police station limits, engulfed the entire warehouse, causing multiple explosions and spreading flames to nearby fields.

According to a report by Amar Ujala, the incident triggered widespread panic in the area as villagers rushed out of their homes upon hearing the loud explosions. “The explosion was so intense that fragments of the cylinders were found up to 500 metres away in the fields,” the report stated.

The fire is believed to have started in the cabin of a truck parked inside the warehouse premises, which was carrying gas cylinders. The initial explosion reportedly occurred when one of the cylinders inside the truck caught fire, following which the flames spread to the warehouse. Eyewitnesses recorded videos of the incident on their mobile phones.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the warehouse, which remains closed on Mondays, had only the caretaker and the truck driver present at the time. Both managed to escape unhurt. Local authorities, including the police and fire brigade, rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after a strenuous effort.
