UP: Man Burnt Alive After Car's Head-On Collision With Another Vehicle, Rescuers Among 6 Injured

The driver was charred after being trapped between the seat and the steering wheel. The body was later retrieved and sent for post-mortem.

UP News: A man was burnt alive after the car he was driving collided head-on with a pickup vehicle in Uttar Pradesh's Budaun. Six others, including two policemen involved in the rescue operation, were injured in the accident that occurred in Kakoda village around 9 pm on Friday.

The impact of the collision was such that the Eco car fell into a roadside ditch and caught fire.

The police and passersby managed to rescue four passengers from the car, but as Sub-Inspector Awadhesh Kumar Singh and Constable Sahdev Kumar attempted to pull out the driver, the CNG cylinder exploded.

Fire brigade personnel reached the spot and managed to extinguish the flames, but the car had been reduced to ashes by then.

The driver was charred after being trapped between the seat and the steering wheel. The body was later retrieved and sent for post-mortem, police said.

Police station in-charge Udayveer Singh said that efforts are underway to identify the deceased driver using the vehicle registration details.

"The four rescued car passengers, along with the injured inspector and constable, have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment,” he said.
