Caught On Cam: Thane Jeweller Foils Loot Attempt, Scares Off Armed Robbers With Wooden Stick
Four armed robbers tried to loot a jewellery shop in Thane, but they were forced to flee after the shop owner charged at them with a wooden stick.
Thane: A brave shop owner foiled a robbery attempt at his jewellery shop in Thane city on Wednesday after he scarred off four armed robbers using a wooden stick. They had arrived on two motrocycles to rob his shop at gunpoint. The incident occurred in the Balkum area and was captured on CCTV, which has gone viral on social media.
In the footage, the robbers can be seen entering the shop wearing helmets. They began threatening and assaulting the shop owner.
One of them even discharged a firearm but fortunately, nobody was injured, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amar Singh Jadhav told news agency PTI.
As the robbers were trying to steal jewellery, the shopkeeper charged at the robbers with a wooden stick, forcing them to flee.
Hearing the noise, the local people reached the spot and chased the gang members. One of them was overpowered and later handed over to the police.

A police team from the Kapurbawdi police station had reached the spot upon receiving the information, detaining the suspect into custody.
A manhunt has been launched to nab three other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
The police is investigating the exact timing of the firing and whether it happened inside the shop or while fleeing.
Woman Injured While Attempting To Catch Robber In Thane
In another case reported from Thane, a 22-year-old woman sustained injuries as she tried to chase a robber, who had stolen her valuables worth Rs 31,500. However, he managed to flee.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at Kisan Nagar in Wagle Estate area. Police said that efforts are underway to nab the robber.
A police official from Srinagar police station told news agency PTI that the woman was sleeping in her apartment on the first floor of a building when the incident took place. The robber is said to have entered the house by opening her house's door through a gap in an adjacent window.
He then grabbed her by the neck and snatched her gold ring and 'mangalsutra' valued at Rs 31,500.
As he tried to run away, the woman could only chase him for a short distance as she sustained injuries on her hand from the knife the culprit threw at her during the pursuit.
Police have registerd an FIR and sections 309 (6) and 333 of the Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita and efforts are underway to arrest the culprit.
