'Angry' On Being Denied Rs 8 Crore, Telangana Woman Kills With Lover's Help. This Happens Next

A charred body found in a coffee plantation in Karnataka led to the arrest of a woman, her lover, and an accomplice for the murder of her husband.

An unidentified charred body of a man in a coffee plantation in Karnataka's Kodagu district led the police to uncover a grisly murder plot. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the man, Ramesh who went missing some days back was killed by his wife and her lover along with an accomplice after she was denied Rs 8 crore by her husband. All three have been arrested by the police.

On October 8, an unidentified charred body of a male was found by police at a coffee plantation near Suntikoppa in Kodagu. After failed attempts to identify the body, the police searched CCTV footage and noticed a red Mercedes Benz, reported NDTV.

The car was registered under the name of Ramesh, in Telangana and the police contacted their counterparts in the state. It was also revealed that his wife had registered a missing complaint for her husband.

With the probe progressing, police's suspicion grew of Ramesh's wife, Niharika P (29). She admitted to her involvement in the crime while she was being taken into custody. She also named her accomplices, Nikhil, a veterinary doctor, and Ankur who were involved in the murder.

According to the police, Niharika had a troubled childhood as her father died when she was 16 and her mother remarried. With a good academic background, she studied engineering and started working. She married early and had a child but was separated later.

She became involved in financial fraud at some point while working in Haryana and was jailed where she met Ankur.

After serving the jail sentence, Niharika married Ramesh who provided her with a lavish lifestyle that soon became her habit. At one point, she asked Ramesh for Rs 8 crore but was turned down.

Infuriated with the rejection, Niharika plotted the murder with Nikhil, with whom she was in a relationship, and Ankur.

Ramesh was choked to death on October 1 in Uppal, Hyderabad. The accused then drove to Bengaluru, more than 800 kilometres away from Uppal, and dumped the body in a coffee estate. They covered the body in a blanket and set fire to it and returned to Hyderabad where Niharika filed a missing complaint.

Kodagu police chief Ramarajan called the case "challenging" as "everything had been entirely destroyed". "Prima facie, we determined that the body had been burned 3-4 days before the complaint was registered," he said.
