Teen Stabbed To Death In Delhi's Seelampur, Locals Say 'Hindus Will Have To Flee If...'

The locals staged protest demanding the accused's arrest. They requested PM Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to intervene in the matter and ensure the boy's family get justice.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in northeast Delhi's Seelampur area on Thursday evening. This led to a protest in the area as agitated locals demanded swift action from the police authorities.

The incident took place at 7:38 pm in J-Block, New Seelampur on April 17. The victim, identified as Kunal, lived with his family in Seelampur. After being stabbed, the boy was rushed to JPC Hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors during treatment.

The locals have been requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to intervene in the matter and ensure the boy's family get justice. Handwritten requests seeking help from PM Modi CM Gupta were seen pasted on the walls of several houses in the area. Residents were also seen holding placards seeking intervention as they staged protest over the killing.

Locals alleged that there have been six to seven such similar incidents in their block, and demanded that CM Gupta visit them and listen to their issues. They alleged the killings had been carried out by a particular community against Hindus and that they were now left with any other choice but to migrate from their houses due to the surge in such fatal incidents. A few locals also demanded that the accused be arrested and killed, warning of chakka-jam in Seelampur.

Case Registered, Police Identify Accused

Later in the day, police identified a suspect and said that an investigation is ongoing. Police have cleared the crowd from the road and vehicle movement, which was interrupted due to the protests, has now resumed.

Upon receiving a call from the hospital, a team from the Seelampur Police Station had earlier reached the hospital to register the case. A crime team was also reached the spot to inspect the scene of the incident, news agency PTI reported.

Visuals from the protest showed locals blocking the road after the incident. As angry residents staged a protest over the murder, security was heightened in the area to ensure law and order.

A case was registered at the Seelampur Police Station and multiple teams were deployed to identify and nab the accused, police said.

Further investigation into the matter is underway. The reason behind the stabbing remains unknown.
