No Relief For 26/11 Mastermind Tahawwur Rana As Court Extends Custody Till August 13
This follows a supplementary NIA chargesheet and Rana's reported confession to being a Pakistan Army agent present during the attacks.

A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Tahawwur Rana, the alleged mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, until August 13.
Rana, who was extradited from the United States earlier this year, appeared before the Patiala House Court’s NIA Special Court via video conferencing after the expiry of his previous remand. Special Judge Chander Jit Singh passed the order extending his custody, while also directing Tihar Jail authorities to submit a status report on Rana’s health by June 9, following concerns raised by his legal team over his deteriorating condition.
Explosive Revelations and Fresh Charges
The latest development comes after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a supplementary chargesheet against Rana, including his arrest memo, seizure memos, and additional documents. The NIA had initially filed a chargesheet against him in 2012.
Earlier this week, Rana reportedly made explosive claims to the Mumbai Crime Branch, confessing that he was a trusted agent of the Pakistan Army and present in Mumbai during the 2008 attacks.
Authorities suspect that Rana provided David Headley, another key conspirator, with handwritten notes, instructions, coordinates, and maps used to identify potential targets for the devastating assault that left at least 166 people dead in Mumbai, including inside the iconic Taj Hotel.
The NIA also plans to take Rana to Mumbai and other cities to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the attacks.
Rana was extradited to India on April 10 after the US Supreme Court dismissed his plea against extradition on April 4. He now faces trial in one of India’s deadliest terror cases.
