UP News: 40 Dog Bites In A Day! Stray Dog Menace At Its Peak In Mahoba

Dog bites are on the rise in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, with 40 cases being reported in a single day. Residents of the city have blamed the municipality for negligence.

The menace of stray dogs in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba is at its peak. Last year, stray dogs were seen sitting in a government hospital ward in Mahoba. But now the menace is threatening the safety of citizens, with reports of a rabid dog injuring around 40 people in various parts of the city. The dog is said to be black, which suddenly attacks people on the road and runs away. However, it is not quite clear if it is the same dog or if different strays are attacking people. The dog-bite incidents have raised questions about the alertness of the municipal administration. The Minister of Urban Development has also taken this matter seriously.

It is the responsibility of the municipality to manage stray dogs and keep their population in check to ensure the safety of citizens. But no step has been taken by the municipality in this regard so far. Due to this, the number of stray dogs in the city has reached thousands. Now, these stray dogs have become a problem for the people. On Wednesday morning, the dog started attacking in the Hamirpur Chungi area. Initially, people did not understand why it attacked. However, when it bit several people, an atmosphere of fear arose among the people. The citizens tried to chase it away and it reached the DM Bungalow area. Here, the dog bit allegedly more people.

After this, the dog moved towards Paramanand Chowk, Baldev Nagar, Charkhari Bypass, Alampura, and Railway Station Bajaria. It attacked several people along the way. Most of the injured people were immediately taken to the district hospital. About 20 people have been admitted to the district hospital due to the bite of the rabid dog, while others are being treated at private hospitals. As the news of the dog's rampage spread throughout the city, people became alert.

The menace is not an isolated incident, according to locals. Stray dogs have been terrorising the Gandhi Nagar, Haveli Darwaza, Bhatipura, areas and other localities of Mahoba for a long time, citizens alleged. People are now scared to walk on the streets and send their children outside.

The city residents have levelled serious allegations against the municipal administration. They say that no concrete steps are being taken to solve the problem of stray dogs. Such incidents are increasing due to the inaction of the administration. In this matter, Urban Development Minister Rakesh Rathore has taken the matter seriously and directed the municipality. Residents of the affected areas are terrified of the dog and have demanded from the municipal administration that they get rid of stray dogs.
