JD(U) Woman Leader Thrashed, Paraded With Garland Of Slippers By Party Colleagues In Bihar
The president of a district woman cell of JD(U) was thrashed and paraded with a garland of slippers by supporters of a ward councillor of the party in Bihar's Sitamarhi.
A woman leader of the Janata Dal (United) was allegedly thrashed and paraded with a garland of slippers in Bihar's Sitamarhi following a heated argument between the local party leaders.
Kamini Patel, president of the party's district women's cell was beaten up so badly by her party colleague who is a ward councillor and his supporters that she had to be admitted to a hospital, reported NDTV.
The ward councillor, Sanjay Singh has been taken into custody, said the police and further action is being taken into the matter.
According to the police, the party organised a programme in the Bairgania block of Sitamarhi district on Wednesday, but Patel was not invited. This led to an intense discussion on Facebook, where Patel and others made some comments.

On Thursday, the woman reached Singh's residence to discuss the issue which soon turned into a heated argument between the two. The situation escalated after the Ward Councillor's supporters surrounded the woman and started beating her.
She was then made to wear a garland of slippers and be called a thief. Singh's supporter also paraded her on the streets near the ward councillor's house.

A video of the incident shared on social media showed Patel with a swollen and bruised face with wounds on other parts of the body as well. She was taken to a local hospital in an unconscious state and was later referred to a healthcare facility in Muzaffarpur.
The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Sitamarhi took stock of the situation and instructions have been given to take strict legal action against all the culprits, said the Sitamarhi police in a post on X.
