Shatrughan Hits Back At Mithun’s President Rule Demand In Bengal: ‘He Got Rajya Sabha Seat Because Of Mamata’
TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha alleged Mithun Chakraborty's statements are influenced by BJP pressure, emphasising his lack of political experience.

Amid demands for Mithun Chakraborty's President's Rule in Bengal, TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha claimed that the Bollywood actor is giving statements due to the pressure of the BJP. He called Chakraborty his friend and added that he has been brought into politics and that he is not a political figure.
"Mithun Chakraborty is my friend but he is not a political figure; he has been brought to politics. He has not been an MLA, councillor, MP. He once became a member of the Rajya Sabha, that too due to the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee...Now he may be giving statements, due to the pressure of the BJP...," Sinha said as quoted by ANI.

BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has requested the imposition of President's Rule in West Bengal and urged that the military should be deployed in the state for two months during elections.
“I’ve requested many times, and I’m still requesting the Home Minister. At the very least, please deploy the military inside for two months during the elections. If they are deployed, then fair elections will happen,” IANS quoted him as saying.
Lashing out at the Bengal violence, the Bollywood actor said that whenever there is a riot, they bring out a chair, sit down, and watch it like a performance.
“Whenever there’s a riot or disturbance, they just bring a chair, sit down, and watch like it’s a performance. And once it's over, they pack up their chairs and go home. That’s their job. Eyes closed, everything ignored…,” he added.
Lashing out at CM Mamata Banerjee, Mithun claimed that if Mamata Banerjee wins in the upcoming elections, it could lead to another massacre.
In an interview with IANS, Chakraborty said, “President’s Rule should be imposed as soon as possible. I have already requested it multiple times, and I’m doing it again now through you, to the Home Minister. At the very least, there should be a military presence for two months during the election period. Only then can we have fair elections. Whoever wins, wins. But from the day the Election Commission announces the election dates to one month after the results are declared, the Army should remain deployed. Because if the current ruling party wins again, it will lead to another massacre. Everything will repeat. That’s why I am making this request.”
On being asked about the face behind the riots, Mithun said that the Waqf Bill is just an excuse.
"It’s a cover-up, there’s a different agenda behind it. That’s why the riots happened. Now who’s behind it? Madam says she won’t let the land be taken, why does she keep saying that? Is she above our President? No? She’s just one Chief Minister among 28 states. Both houses have passed the Bill, the President has signed it, and she herself was in the House. She’s been a minister, she knows more about law than us. Still, she says she won’t allow it. If she doesn’t allow it and now the order has come to take the land, when they go to take it, the riots will begin again. Then you understand who’s doing what and why," Mithun said as quoted by news agency IANS.
The demand for president's rule by the Bollywood actor comes in the aftermath of the April 11 violence in Dhulian, Murshidabad, where protests over the Waqf (Amendment) Act turned deadly. Three people lost their lives, and several others were injured, triggering a fierce political standoff between the state and central leadership. West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose visited the violence-hit areas of Murshidabad on Friday to assess the situation.
