However, after meeting senior police officials, Rai agreed to cancel the plan. "The DCP and other police officials have said that they inform us when the restrictions are lifted. There are restrictions in Sambhal till 10 December. The day the police will inform us that restrictions have been lifted, a delegation of the Congress party will visit Sambhal," he said.
Earlier, Rai was served notice by the police to not go ahead with his plan. The development comes two days after a delegation of 15 members of the Samajwadi Party was stopped by the administration from visiting Sambhal.
On November 29, the Supreme Court halted the proceeding of Sambhal court which ordered the survey and asked the Committee of Management, Shahi Jama Masjid to move the Allahabad High Court against the court order.
The apex court said it will keep the petition filed against the civil judge's order directing a survey pending with it. The court also ordered to keep the survey report of the court commissioner in sealed cover.
