The construction of the Shri Ram Temple of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has entered its final stage, with preparations underway for the installation of idols on the temple’s first floor. The installation process, which includes the Ram Darbar and 17 other idols, is scheduled to commence on April 30, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
According to the General Secretary of the temple trust, Champat Rai, a total of 18 idols of deities and sages will be placed in the temple courtyard and the Sapt Mandap. These include Surya (Sun God), Bhagwati, Annapurna, Shivalinga, Ganpati, Hanuman, Lakshman, Maharishi Valmiki, Vashistha, Vishwamitra, Sage Agastya, Nishad Raj, Shabari, Ahalya, and others.
All the idols are made of white Makrana marble, and their sculpting is nearly complete. Final preparations are underway for their decoration, clothing, and ornaments. After April 15, all the idols will begin arriving from Jaipur to Ayodhya and will be installed at their designated locations.
The Ram Darbar idol will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum on April 30. Following this, a three-day Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony will be held in June, involving religious rituals such as Jalavas (water immersion), Annvas (food offering), Aushadhivas (herbal sanctification), and Shayyaavas (ritual resting of the deity), with participation from all trust members.
Construction Of Sheshavatar Temple
Construction of the Sheshavatar temple will commence later. For this, the internal tower crane will be removed. Construction of the northern and southern sections of the temple’s enclosure wall is expected to be completed by October 2025.
The four gates of the Ram Temple will be based on the traditions of Ramanuja, Shankaracharya, Madhvacharya, and Ramanandacharya, symbolizing India’s spiritual unity. The temple's main spire (shikhar) has already been consecrated, and other installations are being carried out in phases.
Statues of Purandar Das and a squirrel will also be placed in the temple complex, representing devotion and the spirit of service. With the active support of the Yogi government, this project is not only religious but also aims to give Ayodhya a new identity from cultural and tourism perspectives. The temple is emerging as a symbol of India’s unity, faith, and pride, with nationwide participation and devotion.
