Rajasthan Govt Puts Restriction On Bursting Of Firecrackers On Diwali

Rajasthan government has issued guidelines for firecracker use during Diwali, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.

The Rajasthan government has issued guidelines on the use of firecrackers ahead of Diwali, Christmas, and New Year celebrations.

People residing in those districts of Rajasthan that fall under the National Capital (Region) will be permitted to light firecrackers on Diwali for a two-hour window, between 8 pm and 10 pm.

Alwar and Bharatpur are two districts in Rajasthan that are part of the National Capital Region, as per an India Today report.

The orders, issued by the Rajasthan government through the Department of Environment and Climate Change, will be applicable in the districts of Alwar and Bharatpur where only green fireworks will be allowed.

The guidelines have also specified areas where fireworks will be prohibited. According to the order, crackers are banned within a hundred metres of the silent zone: hospitals, nursing homes, government and private medical centres, schools, colleges, courts, and religious places.

These restrictions will be in effect on the day of Diwali and subsequently on Christmas and New Year's Eve. On the following two occasions, firecrackers will be allowed to be used from 11:55 pm to 12:30 am. For weddings also, the use of only green firecrackers has been permitted while the sale of banned fireworks has been prohibited.

The government has instructed all police stations across the state to ensure compliance with these orders.

A similar order has been issued by the Karnataka government also allowing the lighting of firecrackers from 8 pm to 10 pm on the day of Diwali while limiting the sound levels to 125 decibels.

The Karnataka government has also mandated the use of green fireworks in its order. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also stressed that there should be no harm, injuries, or deaths due to firecrackers in the state during a meeting with deputy commissioners of all the districts.
