Prayagraj: Two Groups Of Akhada Parishad Clash During Meeting On Mahakumbh, Seers Injured

An argument erupted during a meeting on Mahakumbh Mela which turned violent as two groups of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad clashed, causing injuries to seers.

Prayagraj: Two groups of Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad clashed during a meeting of the seers in Prayagraj after an argument turned violent. The seers had gathered to discuss about land allotment for the upcoming Mahakumbh mela. Theactual reason behind the clash is yet unknown. Some seers are also said to have susatined injuries in the clash.

According to sources, the meeting had been called to discuss about the land for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela, followed by a spot inspection of the land. However, during the meeting an argument erupted after some seers did not get place to sit. The fight gradually escalated into physical fight.

Following this, a group left for the inspection of the land that will be alloted to the Akhada during the Mahakumbh at the sangam, while the other stayed back to solve the matter at the Prayagraj Mela Authority office.

The authorities are trying to solve the issue and prevent it from escalating further. Police have been deployed outside the office. It is being said that the groups are discussing whether they would attend the Mahakumbh Mela or boycott it. 

Nimrohi Akhada head Rajendra Das accused the Juna Akhada of starting the fight during the meeting. He also said that the Juna Akhada had also brought other people from outside to pose as their group members to showcase strength. He alleged that these people had taken their seats at the meeting, wich left them standing. 

Meanwhile, Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad president Ravindra Puri accused the Nimrohi Akhada of starting the fight. 

Ever since the death of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri, there has been discord among the several bodies that are part of the group. In 2021, these seven bodies out of the 13 reportedly met and chose Mahant Ravindra Puri as their new president.
