Organisers, Participants Of Pro-Palestine Rally Booked For Creating 'Law & Order Situation' In J&K

A case was registered on Friday against the organisers and participants of a procession in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district for allegedly creating a law-and-order situation by raising objectionable slogans, news agency PTI reported.

According to a police official, the case has been filed against the organisers and participants of a Youm-e-Quds parade in Sonpah village, Beerwah, in the central Kashmir state.

Every year, on the final Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Youm-e-Quds, also called Quds Day or International Quds Day, is observed as a way to show support for the Palestinian people.

According to the police spokesperson, a huge crowd assembled during the parade at the organisers' instructions and raised objectionable slogans.

"By sloganeering, the organisers allegedly tried to create a law-and-order situation and blocked the Sonpah-Beerwah road, thereby causing obstructions to the public", he added.

According to the spokesman, authorities at the Beerwah police station took notice of the event and filed a case under sections 126(2) and 189(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He stated that additional inquiry is under progress and that anyone involved will face the appropriate legal action.

UAPA Against People In Baramulla

Police in the Baramulla district of northern Kashmir filed a UAPA case against those involved for allegedly "promoting terrorism by displaying Hezbollah flags and raising slogans in support of the militant group."  At the Pattan police station, J&K police filed an FIR against a number of individuals who were observed carrying banners with pictures of the Hezbollah commander, placards, and Hezbollah flags.

“The individuals were also heard raising slogans in support of Hezbollah with the intent to incite the general public and encourage elements associated with terrorist organisations to engage in subversive activities and to revive terrorist activities within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” police said.
