NEET UG Candidates Seek Re-Test After Facing Power Cuts At Exam Centres, SC To Hear Plea Next Week
The candidates alleged that they "faced" power outages at exam centres in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain and Indore.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear a petition demanding a re-examination of the NEET UG 2025 for candidates who were allegedly affected by power outages at exam centres in Indore and Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The matter is scheduled for hearing next week.
The petitioners have challenged a recent order by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which had dismissed a similar plea. Previously, the High Court had stayed the declaration of NEET UG results in response to complaints about widespread power cuts during the examination.
According to the plea, more than 12 exam centres in Indore faced electricity disruptions during the test. Petitioners claimed that several candidates were unable to attempt multiple questions due to the blackout. They further alleged that emergency lighting and candles were arranged only around 4:30 pm, just half an hour before the exam concluded.
SC Seeks NTA's Response
In response to these allegations, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA), asking for an explanation regarding the lack of backup arrangements and its preparedness for such contingencies. The petitioners have requested that a re-test be conducted specifically for candidates at the affected centres.
