'National Anthem Not Played After State Anthem', Says TN Governor RN Ravi; Walks Out Of Assembly

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi left the state assembly without delivering his address due to the alleged non-playing of the National Anthem after the state's anthem.

In the latest development which can further fuel tensions between the ruling MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government and the Governor of Tamil Nadu R.N. Ravi, the former walked walked out of the state assembly, without delivering his customary address. This is the second consecutive year that the Governor has left the assembly without reading his address.

The Governor, in his complaint, said that National Anthem was not played after state's anthem, Tamil Thai Vazhthu.

According to the details, he insisted the National Anthem be played, but it was refused.

As per PTI, Raj Bhavan said, "Respecting national anthem fundamental duty. Is sung in state legislatures at beginning, end of Governor's address".

A Twitter post from the Raj Bhavan reads, "The Constitution of Bharat and the National Anthem were once again insulted in the Tamil Nadu Assembly today. Respecting the National Anthem is among the first Fundamental Duty as enshrined in our Constitution. It is sung in all the state legislatures at the beginning and the end of Governor’s address. Today on arrival of Governor to the House only Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu was sung.  Governor respectfully reminded the House of its Constitutional Duty and fervently appealed to the Hon'ble Chief Minister who is the Leader of the House and the Hon'ble Speaker for singing the National Anthem. However, they cussedly refused. It is a matter of grave concern. Not to be a party to such brazen disrespect to the Constitution and the National Anthem, Governor in deep anguish left the House."
